In the middle of Asia, along the fabled Silk Road, lies a land full of mountains, valleys, rivers and lakes. This frontier area, marking the borderlands of China and the former Soviet Union, contains descendants from thousands of Muslim minority people who fled China after a failed uprising against their Chinese rulers in the 19th Century. Now, almost 150 years later, these descendents maintain their ethnic identity and cultural heritage, still straddling the mountains which divide China and the former Soviet Union.
In the last two years, the JESUS film was translated and dubbed into the local language. This is the first movie in their ethnic tongue! The first showings brought absolute amazement by community leaders, and despite being Muslim, the film has been passed through villages and across borders. Still, very few people have seen or heard of JESUS.
Our team will work in several villages. Activities will include:
- Teaching conversational English
- Teaching computer skills
- Sports events in village schools
- Using our personal relationships, we will share how Jesus has changed our lives.
