Lifetree Adventures — Dominican Republic

Dominican RepublicThis adventure takes you deep into the tropical forests of the Dominican Republic—a full immersion experience that includes eating, sleeping and working alongside the people in the villages you serve. When you work closely with people of another culture, you and they are both transformed. God can work through your vulnerability and humility in circumstances like this. And the people you serve can be transformed by seeing Christian love in action, not just words.

“Let us not become weary in doing good…therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”
(Galatians 6:9-10)

Trip Overview

You’ll help with repairing, painting, gardening and cleaning a home that serves hundreds of underprivileged children. Your work with the kids also includes presenting a VBS-like curriculum and tutoring in various classes at a local school. A Christian education is the way for these children to have a vision of a better life for themselves, and you can be a crucial part of that transformation.

Despite their economic and social hardships, the kids you meet will be eager to play. (You might want to bring a soccer ball or baseball with you to leave behind for the kids.) Even though they have learned to survive by making the best of their circumstances, they will be grateful for the care and attention your group brings to their lives.

While medical training and Spanish speaking skills will be helpful, they are certainly are not required for participation. As with all Lifetree Adventures, the most important qualification is a generous heart.
