Visit Nice, the sophisticated playground of the rich and Eze, the mountaintop enclave with supreme views. You'll drive along the Lower Corniche Road from the Citadel of Villefranche to the city of Nice where you'll visit this beachfront jet set city. You'll drive along the Park Imperial from the Cimiez Hill, a sophisticated part of Nice with many large houses. You will see the Franciscan Monastery, gardens, and Roman arena. You'll also visit the Old City, where tall houses and the cool streets, bright with flowers and laundry, make for a delightful stroll. You'll enjoy a walk on the Cours Saleya, the elegant promenade of old Nice, now lined with shops and restaurants and the famous Flower Market. A visit to Nice is not complete without driving along the Promenade des Anglais, a splendid palm-lined boulevard stretching 3 miles along the Baie des Anges. Along the way, you'll pass landmarks like the legendary Negresco, an imposing hotel with a Rococo facade.
Departing Nice, you'll head toward Eze by way of the Middle Corniche Road with its superb scenic views of Villefranche, Cap Ferrat and Beaulieu. Eze, a picturesque village seemingly perched on a cliff face, offers visitors an opportunity to enjoy an exhilarating walk along its narrow cobblestone streets lined with many shops. Closed to traffic, the only means of seeing this medieval village is to walk its stairways. A stop will be made in the residential area of Mont Boron to enjoy a breathtaking view of Villefranche before returning to the ship. Time permitting; you will have approximately 30 minutes at leisure in Nice and Eze.
Note: The tour portion of Nice involves approximately 300 yards of walking over even surfaces. Walking in Eze is at your discretion on uphill cobblestone streets with 40 - 50 steps. |
