This excursion gives you the opportunity to see the legendary Black Madonna and enjoy the beautiful countryside of Catalunya before returning to your final destination. You'll pass through the center of Barcelona and north through villages and beautiful countryside to the sacred saw-toothed Montserrat Mountain Range. Your guide will take you through the Monastery and 16th century Renaissance Basilica where you will view La Moreneta, also known as the Black Madonna, the Patroness Saint of Catalunya. The Monastery sits spectacularly atop a projecting spur of rock and is considered one of Spain's most significant places of pilgrimage. You will have some free time for browsing and shopping prior to departing, time permitting. Enroute to your final destination, you will return to the city via the same route. Guests will be taken to the airport.
Note: Guests must be able to walk approximately 1 mile over even cobblestone surfaces with numerous inclines and 45 - 50 steps. Walking at Montserrat is at your own discretion. There is approximately 15 minutes of free time at the Monastery of Montserrat. Respectful attire that covers shoulders and knees should be worn in order to enter the church. The Boy's Choir is not in attendance during the last week of June through August due to annual holidays.
Transit Port: Many guests utilize the port of Barcelona as a transit port, either boarding or leaving the ship before or after their cruise. To meet the needs and desires of those guests with a little extra time in Barcelona,Royal Caribbean International. will be offering a limited tour program, which will be available to guests who fall into any of the following categories:
a) Guests with flights departing after 3:00 pm, the last day of the cruise.
