The MS Amacello debuted in Spring of 2008, joining the MS Amalegro (2007) and the MS Amadagio (2006). This vessel set new standards in European river cruising and offers a number of features, which no other European river cruise ship can match.
The MS Amacello’s maiden voyage took place on March 8, 2008 and the MS Amadante on June 1, 2008.

April 17 ZURICH – ARRIVAL Welcome to the cultural and economic center in the heart of Switzerland … ZURICH! Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your accommodation with the balance of the day at leisure.
April 18 ZURICH Visit the ever-efficient business & cultural hub of Switzerland on this morning’s coach tour showcasing Zurich at its best. Sit back and relax as your guide points out city highlights & must-see attractions, including its medieval Old Town, the Bahnhofstrasse shopping street, and the National Museum. This afternoon a visit to a LOCAL HOSPITAL has been arranged for CE participants.
April 19 ZURICH / BASEL – EMBARKATION
Today journey by coach to Basel where you will board your luxurious river cruise ship … the AMACELLO … and in the evening gather on board for a Gala Welcome Dinner (D)

April 19 ZURICH – ARRIVAL / BASEL – EMBARKATION Arrive in Zurich and transfer to your cruise ship located in the city of Basel. The balance of the day is free, and this evening enjoy a Gala Welcome Dinner.
April 20 BREISACH – COLMAR, FRANCE or BLACK FOREST TOUR
Today, choose between a city tour of Colmar OR a tour through the famous Black Forest region of Germany. On the FOREST TOUR enjoy a drive through a scenic forested area where you will encounter a number of lakes as well as charming examples of rural architecture. Also included is a stop at a cuckoo clock factory. As an alternative, travel to medieval COLMAR, situated along the Alsatian Wine Route and the self-proclaimed “Capital of Alsatian Wine.” View remarkable half-timbered frame houses, the German influenced old quarter filled with streets of unexpected twists and turns, canals, and the Launch River. Also enjoy a wine cellar visit and wine tasting. Tonight, your ship weighs anchor for Strasbourg, France. (B,L,D)
April 21 STRASBOURG, FRANCE / SPEYER
Principal city of the Alsace region in northeastern France, STRASBOURG is situated on the Ill River, where it flows into the Rhine on the border with Germany. A morning tour takes you through this medieval charming town lined with narrow cobbled streets. View the European Parliament and visit the “La Petite France” district, where you will see the sandstone Gothic Cathedral with its famous Astronomical clock. A canal cruise will reveal this picturesque town, known for its black and white timber-framed buildings, covered bridges, and medieval watchtowers. Depart at lunchtime for SPEYER, where your Cruise Manager will lead a walking tour after dinner. (B,L,D)
April 22 SPEYER – HEIDELBERG, GERMANY
Depart from Speyer for your excursion to HEIDELBERG, where you will visit the red-walled Castle with its Great Vat, a 49,000 gallon 18th- century wine cask. Return to the ship at WORMS, one of Germany’s oldest cities, renowned for its great historical and cultural significance. Surrounded by lush vineyards, Worms is noteworthy for its famous white, Liebfraumilch. The city is also known for its many excellent examples of Romanesque architecture, including the majestic 12th-century St. Peter’s Cathedral. (B,L,D)
April 23 RUDESHEIM – RHINE CASTLES – KOBLENZ This morning arrive in RUDESHEIM and visit Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum. Explore the Drosselgasse, a narrow alley lined with wine taverns and restaurants. Enjoy a wine tasting at a local vintner. This afternoon your ship departs for KOBLENZ. You will cruise through the Rhine Gorge, the most beautiful stretch of the river, passing castle after castle. Arrive in KOBLENZ this evening where the ship will moor overnight. (B,L,D)
April 24 KOBLENZ – COLOGNE This morning the ship cruises to COLOGNE for a walking tour through the old part of the city and visit to the fabled 13th-century Gothic Cathedral. The balance of the day is at leisure before the ship departs this evening for Amsterdam.( B,L,D)
April 25 AMSTERDAM, HOLLAND Following breakfast, admire beautiful 17th century homes, charming churches, and 16the century merchant houses on a guided canal boat. Then enjoy a motor coach tour of AMSTERDAM, including a photo stop at the Rembrandt Windmill, followed by free time in Amsterdam. This evening, bid farewell to your fellow passengers at the Gala Farewell Dinner. (B,L,D)
April 26 AMSTERDAM / USA All too soon your Rhine Adventure comes to an end as you are transferred to the airport for your flight home. |
